Michael contacted us willing to feed us his experiences so we can live vicariously through him! We really appreciated his offer and are super pleased to share some photos Michael sent to us from last night. See these photos in our Picasa Album. Michael writes: I had a chance to quickly walk the floor (8pm tonight before show opens). I thought you would like to see some of the booths (works in progress). They are expecting 75k attendees ... Dev Diary: LUA Scripting Goes LIVE!

2 September 2010 by A Casual Stroll to Mordor: Merric
Narrel writes today about how LUA scripting came about for LOTRO in the most recently released Dev Diary.  He was hired as a game systems engineer for LOTRO in late 2007 and eventually “…became the ‘go-to guy’ for UI on my team.”  Dissatisfied with the current UI he eventually started working with “ForsakenArcher” and “Agiclaw”, to of the internal tools engineers at Turbine, and they began discussing, planning and working on a prototype for the LUA system.  To paraphrase, after internal testing, meetings, and with help from “Frosty” they were given the approval and the opportunity to introduce it with ... Ask Elb: Which 2-Handed Class (w/o pet) is Best to Level?

2 September 2010 by A Casual Stroll to Mordor: Elborigorn
Belegedan of Landroval asks: I’d like to play a melee class that uses a 2-handed weapon for leveling, but does not have pets.  My Guardian uses Sword + Shield; and my Burg and Hunter both dual-wield.  I’ve been told that Champions should dual-wield as well. Captain and lore-master are pet classes, which I really don’t want to play. (I’d consider Captain, but I’m heard on the roundtable that they should level with their Herald pet rather than banners.) Can I level my Guardian or my Champion with a 2-hander, or am I losing out?  Am I missing a class I should be considering? Alright, ... [click title to read more]

LOTRO Instance Join Reference Sheet

1 September 2010 by A Casual Stroll to Mordor: Goldenstar
When we first published the instance join list from part five of the instance dev diary we quickly had a comment from Chuck Steel saying it would be a great reference with a bit more information. I thought the idea of a printable reference sheet was a wonderful idea as I mentioned in Episode 51 and I started working on building it. I quickly realized with my lack of much raiding experience that this effort was a bit over my head so I called in our raid specialist, Elb, to help me! With Elb’s excellent input we’re pleased to present you ... [click title to read more]
